I've been here three times now, and they have maintained the same quality standard each time. Kudos.

Disappointing. I had high hopes the new ownership would do good things here, but alas another restaurant run by service industry amateurs with no taste. Menu has no clear theme or expertise. Is there even a head chef? It is all over the place and everything is at best mediocre. I mean the name of your restaurant is dockside, let's feature some fresh local and seasonal seafood with creativity. Menu needs to be seriously pared down and focused. Feels like it was designed by a committee of 16yr old boys who only want steak and pasta. (Don't even get me started on the physical menu font, layout, and general set up. I mean, come on... use a template) Food generally is poorly cooked. Little to no attention paid to sides or plating. All the salads were way overdressed. Crab cakes were flavorless and soggy. Nothing tastes home cooked. Seems like it is all straight off the Sysco truck. Service was terrible. I will usually continue to patron a watering hole for their good service and atmosphere alone, but the staff here is just bad. Poorly trained and ill mannered towards guests, they just need to try harder and get better management. I'll maybe try a few more time this summer in case they turn things around. But South County Cafe is just so much better.

Consider yourself lucky if you can get the young lady seating you to seat you in the dining room because this is our second time here and each time she refused to sest us in the dining room and we sat it the bar area. It is very loud and we are old people and this is not a good combination. It is very difficult to hear someone talking. I had broiled scallops which were quarter size and there were 7 of them. For $22. I would think you would get a few more. They were cooked very well, but very salty to taste. My wife had cream of crab soup, which was the highlight of the meal. It was excellent. She also had the 'fish and chips' which has NO CHIPS! It was over done and dried out. Overall it below average for me. The average pricing is around $25.00. I would go to Pettie Greens -I have no stake in Pettie Greens either. The waite staff was better than average.

What a disappointment. Sweet potato fries were burnt. Hamburger roll looked mushed. Scallops were underdone. My wife was happy because the waiter didn't return to the table except with the check, so I wasn't able to order a 2nd beer.

the food is overpriced and has a DC price and you are getting back woods service. The management needs to learn how to train both bartenders and waitress if they want to overcharge for their faire. Also, who ever heard of a sports bar that wants you to whisper. Please sports bars are loud and boisterous. So again they lie in there advertising a sports bar. Maybe that is why the previous owners had a glass partition between the sports bar and the dining area. However when the blow boaters leave and the heating bill increases, he might might need the people that he alleges is not good for his bar. I really do not think someone for Alexandria Va. is coming to watch a deadskin game in Deale Maryland and I certain will not attend this bar either. You might find me at Skippers though. They seem to know how to accommodate.

Exceptional food, the menu is great and the specials are even better. We ate at the bar and enjoyed the service provided by Stephanie. She made some great adult beverages, some great food recommendations and we enjoyed some good conversation as we waited on our food. I cannot say enough good things about our experience. Simply put: outdoor bar, orange crushes, great food and country music......it doesn't get much better than this!

I hate to give this place one star because both times we ate here, the servers were friendly and pretty attentive, even though it's a pretty busy place. The first time, we sat on the dock and the food was just blah. The only thing they seemed to get right were the French fries. The second time, we ate in the dining room which is kind of weirdly formal, but not...odd vibe and décor. There were ants crawling all over the windowsill next to our table. On my way out, I mentioned it to the hostess and she didn't bat an eye. Eww.

Some friends of my met up at Dockside one Friday afternoon, we had some drinks and apps. I looked through the dinner menu and all the food sounded great and the prices were avg. We had blackened scallops, fried zucchini, and a seafood cabbage with scallops and shrimp in it. This was all very tasty. We also had some GREAT orange crushes. If you are in the area or looking to get out the ordinary dinning trends stop by! I'll be back for sure!

I was extremely excited for the opening of this restaurant but my disappointments are never ending after my first visit. The staff can be friendly & inviting but the owner is overly rude! If you are not over the age of 50 he will not hesitate to make you feel unwelcomed at his establishment. As for food quality goes I'd much rather head over to paceway for dinner. It's the same food with a lower price & better service!!!

Had a great experience at Dockside this weekend. Went for lunch on Mother's Day with some friends. Food was great, prices are right on target and the location is what completed the experience. Apparently they are an established family-run restaurant who recently moved from a smaller location to this new place. It's clear they are still getting to know their new, larger space and layout - but everyone is friendly, attentive, the food is appropriately priced and tasty. They will get their footing and this will be a great addition to the community. We sat outside and they had live music starting (guitar soloist) just as we left (2ish) - which is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Oh, try the Orange Crush signature drink. trust me, just try it. I will be making this a regular visit when in Deale.

Had dinner here recently and it was basically a glorified diner atmosphere (bare, loud and bright lights) Went out for a celebratory dinner and it is more of a lunch place. We ordered crab soup and no crackers came with it, we asked for bread for dinner and were charged $2 for burnt bread, salads came out with no crotons, cake to share among the table came with no plates, candle was not lit and waitress went to find a lighter when asked, margarita was awful, our table was not bussed when we finished eating and no one checked in after the food arrived. The waitress crumbled up our credit card receipts when we complained she did not remove the burnt bread. We were told initially no adjustments could be made because the manager was not there at the time. Miss the old location! At least there's Skippers Pier down the road!

These are the same folks that had Petie Green's up the road. Over 7 years of dining at PG's the food had always been consistently good. The menu isnt huge or particularly fancy but that's fine, this area has too many places that get fancy without paying attention to consistentcy and quality. They stick to what they do well and run specials that keep things exciting. Their crab dip is my absolute favorite crab dip with a touch of horseradish, lots of cheese and crusty french bread. After a long work week that's my Friday comfort food.

My husband and I stopped in for sandwiches on Father's Day. We sat outside and the ambiance was very nice. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer (which came after we asked twice for them and had already had our sandwiches delivered) When our sandwiches arrived they were not as described on the menu..in addition my husband had asked for an add-on of mushrooms which was all he got on the sandwich! When we pointed this out to our server she abruptly explained that you have to ask for the items that the menu says come with the sandwiches and that we had not. Really??? She also actually rolled her eyes at us as we explained as well as showed her what the menu said (like we were the problem)!! We wondered if you also had to order your salads like that. Anyway, we found that if it was this difficult to order a simple sandwich (it also put a damper on our $45.00 lunch) next time we'll just go elsewhere. We will also spread the word. It's hard to say whether we just got an inept server or that what she told us actually was their policy. Lunch should not be difficult!!

Let me first say that a family friend reports having a pretty good dinner of rock fish at this place. That was dinner. Lunch is a different story. While the setting overlooks the water and boats moored at Deale, the lunch menu is unimaginative and the food only fair. Fried clams. Fried shrimp. Fried fish. Burgers. Fried. Ordinary and dull. The Dockside claims to have good crab chowder. I'd grade it an "D-minus." Served lukewarm, the chowder is too much starchy goo and too little crab. It's not the worth the trouble to stop if you are driving by.

Just had some incredible awesome ahi tuna cooked rare rare as ordered. Service was excellent. These guys have made leaps and bounds on growing into their new space.

A totally updated version of long time local favorite Peite Green's. Same great food but with two bars plus a dockside bar and food service. Great place for any occasion, with lots of room for parties. I highly recommend The Dockside Restaurant and Sports Bar.

Nice view. They get great music and have it often. Food isn't so nice. There's nothing good I can say about the food. The remodel is disappointing. Has no identity or character. Interior is weird. Loud. I've eaten there 4x just because dining options are slim in the area.... The owners previous place (Petie Greens) was solid and good. Really miss it. At dockside some staff is friendly, some seem to go out of their way to be awful. Service can be good or bad. As a local its a huge bummer that yet another lame restaurant has been added to the list. If you go sit outside, listen to tunes and just don't expect much.

Since our sailboat is docked 100 yards away, we are hoping to become regulars here. While some items have been tasty, I agree with another reviewer that I'd like to see some more creativity! Hoping over time the menu will grow. The turkey ruben is really good as are the onion rings. The salads are standard and fresh. The soups need a makeover - they don't taste fresh. This place has so much potential being right on the water, they should spend time developing good crab soups.

Dockside has two really stand out points going for it: the scenic view, and the cream of crab soup. The cream of crab was some of the best I have had in a long time, flavor was excellent and there was plenty of crab in it. I will plan to get the bowl instead of just a cup next time! I would have gone for the five stars except my fried shrimp in the fried shrimp platter were a bit overdone to my taste. Otherwise the platter is a good lunch deal with fries & a decent coleslaw that comes with it. I agree with the other reviewers that they don't have an overly extensive menu, but I think that is because they are going by the theory that it is better to do a smaller menu just right rather than try to please everyone walking in the door with too many items that won't get ordered all that often. The outside bar area was just recently redone and this is a plus. There is nothing like having a really good crab soup sitting at a nice spot by the water.

Horrible. They had taco night with only one hot sauce to offer. There was an "up charge" for shrimp tacos and they weren't even on the Monday night taco menu. How can you have an establishment on the water and not have shrimp tacos on the menu? There was a three drink maximum and was told no more drinks after three. Although there was an older gentleman in his late 50's extremely intoxicated making comments to a black female that made her pay her tab and ask for a to go box. I have been advised today that the owner caters to older crowds and doesn't want younger people dinning at his establishment. I am 35 years old and will never attend this establishment again. Also when we went to pay the bar tender, she already ran my card when that's not how we wanted to pay. She never gave us the option to pay with cash or a separate card. She just ran the card. We never saw an itemized receipt when paying either. Also when asking the bar tender why we can't have another drink after three drinks in 3 hours, that I have been coming to this place since I was 16 years old with my family and then after...the bar tender with an attitude advised, "the owner said no more drinks and its under new ownership." I can surely advise after being a previous law enforcement officer that my blood alcohol content levels were below the legal limit in three hours. I was advised the owner wants an older crowd that is an upscale high class of individuals to attend his establishment. Well he was sitting at the bar having drink after drink while this black lady next to me was being harassed by this extremely intoxicated older man and the bar tender just laughed the whole time and he ignored it. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE and will never attend this establishment again.

Really good, the only reason they didn't get 5 stars is because the mixed drinks were over priced and lacked pizzazz. Had a grapfruit crush and it was very light and missed the "shot" of Sprite. Lots of ice, two sips and gone. The food was great, always love the Kabobs that Petey Green had, delicious and generous portions of filet. Steak salad, wonderful.

MS. Brandi was great! Ask for her. Very attentive and polite. Loud atmosphere. Lots of echo in some spots of restaurant. Rueben was delicious. Burger was tasty and perfectly cooked.
